Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
The mission of the PTA is to provide support and resources for the benefit and educational growth of the children attending PS 14, the Senator John D. Calandra School in Bronx, NY. Our goals are to develop a cooperative working relationship between the parents and staff of PS 14; to develop parent leadership and build capacity for greater involvement; to foster and encourage parent participation on all levels; and to provide opportunities and training for parents to participate in school governance and decision-making in PS 14.
Last year through fundraising efforts we were able to accomplish many things including: Fall Harvest Festival, Holiday Laser Light Show, Valentine’s Day Dance, 5th grade dance, honor many Teacher requests for classroom items from bookcases to butterflies, Holiday Gifts for all children and staff, Dancing Classrooms Ballroom Dance, Junior and Senior Chorus, Book Talk Reading Club, and a Percussion Residency Program.
PTA meetings are on the 4th Monday of every month and begin at 7pm. If the 4th Monday is a school holiday the meeting is held on the 3rd Monday. NEW THIS YEAR- Bring your children and drop them off in the cafeteria, members of our afterschool YMCA program will be supervising crafts.
What makes PS 14 great? Outstanding teachers, a dedicated administration and an enthusiastic and energetic parent body. Parent volunteers are necessary to support all of the ambitious initiatives at PS 14. Do you want to volunteer at the school? Whether you would like to get involved in an ongoing project or just devote an hour or two, your efforts will make a difference. Volunteering is also a great opportunity to get to know other parents, teachers and the school administration (and have fun, too). Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Diana Natal, to get started. She can be reached at 718-822-5341, by email at email@example.com, or fill out a form through our new PS 14 app.
